Keeping in mind the recent rise in the COVID-19 cases all across the world, the Indian Health Ministry has also announced that it is now mandatory for all passengers arriving from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand to produce RT-PCR test results upon arrival.
In case any passenger arriving from any of these countries test positive for COVID-19 or are showing symptoms, they will be immediately quarantined.
Passengers flying in from the above-mentioned countries will also have to fill the Air Suvidha form and declare their current health status.
Currently, India has reported 201 new infections, making it to 3,397 active cases in the country (Saturday). Studies have also revealed that there is an increase of 17 cases in a span of 24 hours in the country’s active COVID-19 case count.
The Centre and various state governments are reminding people that though there is no need for panic, it is advised to observe caution and self care.
As of now, random testing of international passengers have begun at airports in Delhi and Hyderabad, and COVID-19 testing booths have been established outside Chennai International Airport. With the surge in COVID-19 cases in China, the authorities in India have directed strict surveillance measures, especially at international airports all across India.
